Martine Bedin was born in Bordeaux, France, in 1957. She completed her education at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture et de Paysage de Bordeaux and then studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. Her passion and talent for art and design became evident during her education, leading her to pursue a career in this field.


Bedin's career took a significant turn when she joined the Memphis Group in 1981. Under the leadership of the Italian designer Ettore Sottsass, the group created radical and original furniture and interior designs using unconventional materials such as colorful plastics, metallic finishes, and geometric patterns.
